ABOUT

Greetings, and welcome to my TITANFALL tribute site. Most of the screenshots, and vids on my YouTube*, were taken after making it to Generation 10. Everything is divided by map of my travels through The Frontier. The game environments, architecture, and equipment in TITANFALL are exquisitely detailed and realistic, and make for good photography. It is difficult to get good screenshots in the middle of a game, it’s not a priority when you are trying to survive. I’ve tried to get sequence shots when possible; some things happen so fast they are hard to get shots of, others have pictures removed to avoid seeming redundant imagery. There are many little detail items throughout the environments that are worth a screenshot.

*A note on my YouTube: In trying to delete an older channel, I have at least temporarily lost the channel I made for TITANFALL. The vids, (145 of them, most about 2 minutes long, Shadow Play capture) are still up. The link is:

About “Robotnik157”: One time in the Attrition Lobby, someone asked me about the name, but by the time I saw his question, another round was beginning, so I did’nt have time to answer. The word robotnik was coined by a Czech playwright named Karel Capek in about 1920, for his play “R.U.R.” which stands for Rossumovi Univerzální Roboti (Rossum’s Universal Robots). Since my name is Rob, and I’ve always been fond of robots, Robotnik seemed like a good av name. The number 157 is from an old comic book, where an android had that number as a name. I also work on CNC machines which are by definition, robots, which do repetitive tasks, namely making machine parts.

The first time I saw a mech, it was from the old BATTLETECH series, most of which were copies from an even older ROBOTECH, with the mechs renamed. Having been a Tanker in the US Army, armored things are interesting, and mechs are very interesting, but they are usually scaled rather unrealistically large. BATTLETECH became MECHWARRIOR, which added a few new mech types, and some of the related story props, ships, etc., are also pretty cool. But, they are still too large to be realistic. One realistic design is the SCOPEDOG. A little known scifi series of models called Maschinen Krieger (Ma.K ZBV3000), had some related material, and was very well done.

The mech designers of TITANFALL definitely got it right. The ATLAS has to be by far, the most realistic mech to date. The Strider and Ogre are awesome compliments. Mech abilities are realistic and balanced.

As far as games are concerned, TITANFALL is what MECHWARRIOR could have been. My only complaint is about the key bindings, some of which are permanent, and get in the way at the wrong times. The scoreboard or chat box are the last things one wants to see, accidentally opened during the middle of a close fight, while trying to use a tactical ability, which is detrimental and not conducive to victory.

As for gaming, I’m not a great gamer by any means, and get stomped regularly. There are a lot of players who are way better than I will ever be, but I press on, and have occasionally managed to take down some of the best 😉  Aside from doing EVE for a while, and doing some building in SECOND LIFE, I have’nt done much gaming since I played MECHWARRIOR 2, on an old Playstation. I have bought the basic game of STAR CITIZEN, but have’nt had time to do much there yet. I am looking forward to TITANFALL 2.
